Scholarship scheme for Akropong school

A SCHOLARSHIP fund for junior high school students of the Presbyterian College of Education Demonstration School at Akropong has been launched at a ceremony at Akropong in the Eastern Region.

The fund, Yaw Bediako Yirenkyi Scholarship Scheme, forms part of the family's quest to encourage students of the school to study hard to achieve a high level of excellence in the educational field as well as bring relief to parents of brilliant, needy students in the area.

The scholarship covers tuition textbooks, school uniforms and other educational facilities.

Ms Otema Yirenkyi, a daughter of Mr. Yaw Bediako Yirenkyi, noted that her father believed that quality education provides numerous opportunities for better life, and for that matter, one's financial status should not limit him from attaining one's potential.

The family later presented a laptop and accessories, textbooks and other teaching materials to furnish the school's library and parcels for the Christmas holidays.

Mr. Samuel Ofori Aboagye, Vice-Principal in charge of Administration on behalf of the
school authorities, expressed appreciation to Mr. Yirenkyi and family for the kind gesture and assured them that they would continue to work hard to make sure that the high level of academic excellence is achieved.

He used the occasion to urge students of the school to work hard to merit the gesture of the Yirenkyi family, so scholarship would be expanded.
