Ekumfi Talimul Islam School records no riots

There has not been any students’ riot at the Ekumfi Talimul Islam School at Ahmadiyya Senior High School at Ekumfi Essarkyir in the Central Region since its establishment in 1972.

This is as a result of the cordial relationship between the teachers in the school and the students.

The school is also gender-sensitive, and since 2001 to date, five out of the eight school prefects have been girls.

The headmaster of the school, Mr. Dimbie Mumuni lssah, disclosed this when he met newsmen at the school to brief them on the school's achievements since its establishment in 1972.

Mr. Dimbie said the school would be celebrating its 37th anniversary speech and prize-giving day on the school's ceremonial ground on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 10 a.m. under the chairmanship of Alhaji Maulvi M. Yusuf Yawson, acting Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission of Ghana.

The theme for the celebration is "Achieving quality education in less endowed senior high schools- A worthwhile investment".

The headmaster said the school currently runs five different programmes, namely Science, General Arts, Technical, Home Economics and Business.

He said the school which started with a student population of 24 could now boast of 927 students, comprising 512 girls and 415 boys with a teaching staff strength of 37 and 3O non-teaching staff.
